The Return Journey, Big Red, and Summary

The return journey was somewhat easier as the steep eastern slopes we could just drive down.

There are still dangers along the way.

A 2 metre Western Brown Snake.

Like all the other dunes Big Red - the Big One this time - was a relatively easy and slow drive up in 2nd High.

Video links of the trip and the drive up Big Red to follow...

One of the reasons for the success of the adventure across the dunes is wheel choice.

Massive 37x12.5 R17  tyres on 17x9” rims.

The tyres we offer are a  tough flotation tyre that track exactly in the same line - Front to Rear.

On such a tough trip with Global Xplorer what problems did we have...nothing really.

  1.   The second night out we found the shower door leaked, and that has been addressed both on this vehicle and noted for the manufacturing stage.

  2.   An exhaust pipe support broke. Fixed with tie wire for now, and noted for future production.

  3.   The shock absorber in the Stratos Suspension seat broke of the support.  That was perhaps the most inconvenient thing as the seat now had to be chocked up with a block of wood.

The vehicle was remapped before we left and that made a considerable improvement to how the vehicle drove. A 60% improvement in the torque helped on those long dunes.

Suspension was stock standard, with ride improvement gained from the tyres.

Our production Global Xplorer module and the Fuso Canter truck had NO ISSUES.

Even I am impressed !
