A Challenging Camp

Some evenings finding a camp spot is interesting.

Touring Japan up to this Camp No54 it’s been easy, wild and free. Tonight proved to be interesting.

We love end of road camps.

This one is a view point at 1600m overlooking a mountain lake.

Ghost Camp No54. 25m was the best one could see.

Nobody here - Perfect.

There was this sign- we had no internet so Googling was no help but something about 5pm.

It’s 4.45pm and this little blue truck arrives with flashing amber lights.

Lots a Japanese then finally “you no stay here”

OK we drive back down the 10kms to the small town by the lake, where I previously spotted a parking lot.

In the parking lot Lyn finds this sign and Google is now working…

Translation…

Yep that means NO!

OK so down the next road 1400m to 1000m.

Great fun in thick dusk fog.

Why the ladder

Camp No 54 Try No3

Nice semi quiet spot. Jumped out and promptly left all the keys in the locked vehicle.

1. No problem I have a spare key hidden in the Bull Bar

2. Problem. I have parked up against a tree

3. Problem. The Bull bar eye bolts are over tight. Normally I can use the winch hook to undo.

4. Solution- search the area for something, up the road is an old shed. I tried various pipes etc but the old rusty stuff just bent.

5. Solution- found this old ladder with legs that just fitted through the eyelets

Key retrieved and vehicle moved back.

I enjoy an evenings drink- this one went down very well.
