OK now back in Japan and collected the vehicle and on our way again.
Koi Peninsula in Southern Kansai/ Japan
One on the most photogenic places we have visited- The thickly forested Koys-San and the most inner sanctuary the resting place of the founder of Shingon Buddhism in Japan.
Here believers wish to be buried as close as possible to their leader.
Some 300,000 graves are here dating back 1200 years.
Tranquil, serene, majestic.

850m above sea level is Kobo-daishi founded in 816AD.
In 804 Kobo Daishi studied Buddhism in China and returning to Japan established a monastery here.

The tombs of Ichi-no-hashi- moss covered and tranquil.

Those images with a red bib are are for children who pass before their time

No photographs beyond this point.
This is where the founder Kobo Daishi is in an eternal state of meditation. According to legend he is still alive in his crypt. It’s been only opened once in the 10C by some curious monks who stated he was still living and his hair and beard had grown long

The status are Jizo and the red colour and caps for protection from evil

We drove all the way to Tasmania to see a couple of big trees, here they abound in absolute splendour

So peaceful
