EU Part 4 Norway 3 The Top End
Thursday, 4 April 2019 3:26 pm

All of a sudden we feel our holiday has started, if only we could visit all those coastal areas now !

Just beautiful.

The deal is done - not cheap but not only do we perhaps need, but actually it is a legal necessary for any vehicle over 3,500kgs to carry chains in winter. Minimum is 3 chains, 2 for the rear and at least one steer chain.
-
1. There is an inside and outside, check.
-
2. Throw the chain over the tyreand drive forward

-
3. Push the top half of the chain towards the centre of the tyre so it is more loose on the inside.
-
4. Latch the inside and then pull the chain back over the outside of the tyre

-
5. Latch the outside, using the leaver link to pull the chain tight

-
6. This is how it finished up.
-
7. Drive forward and back a few metres then readjust to tighten.

Now time to discuss trucks !

Thew road is good and the snow plows are still busy.
All day we are following the edges of the Fjords and the Atlantic ocean.

Friday 5th April 2019:

11pm and a small touch of the Aurora.
YEAH !
Last night was particularly cold AND windy - so we find this morning that our water tanks have frozen !

With chains fitted it was a much safer drive up the hills and significantly more for coming down the hills.

Nearly all the way it was snow and ice covered.

It’s quite a tourist mecca, so the staff are heading up there by snowmobile to sell us all kinds of things with Norway and North Cape printed on it .
Later in the day 4 busses from the cruise ships will be also arriving.

...and one for the truck

And for the Grand Kids a Snow Angle

So we now turn south and head towards Lapland. (The most northern part of Finland )

Saturday 6th April 2019:

Last night the heavens put on a display.
We waited until the sun set at 11pm then out into the cold air.
Stayed about an hour until the cold drove us inside.

Then something quite unusual.
4 very bright white lights suddenly appeared, and then started to turn blue and as they grew they faded in intensity.
Around a minute later, 4 more appeared in the exact same rhombus shape. This happened 3 times.

By chance a car drove past lighting the snow covered mountain.
?????> Can not find reference to such an event in Google. ???? !!
Very strange ????

Ok next day.
