Adventure 3.1 Eastern Beach Run
Friday, 10 July 2015 4:13 pm

The beach run from Ussher Point south we have done many times, initially by vehicle however the last 5 times have been by Quad Bikes.
With appropriate planning this trip will be over 9 days allowing slow travel for beach combing, fishing, and exploring the areas.

Base camp is on a small fresh water lake 2kms inland from Ussher where we will leave the vehicles. We will travel Ussher Point south to Capt Billy’s and on to Double Mouth Creek and then Red Cliffs at the top end of Shelbourne Bay.

The bikes are given a clean of all the red bull dust before loading.
Cliffs and bat caves just South of Ussher Point.
These trips are always a voyage of discovery:

Williams bottle travelled 4,142 Kms South East of where found.

The WWII Aero Cobra is more exposed than we have ever see before.

Living off the land or beach we do if we can.
This sweet potato went well as chips with the fish we later caught.

A bait net comes in handy for a quick meal.

The ‘originals’ also lived off the land leaving their food containers and opening stones for later discovery.
Camp 1 on the south bank of Logan Jack Creek.
Fish & Chips for dinner.

Crossing No Name Creek at the start of Orford Bay.

Coconuts gave us refreshments.
Pre white man there were no coconuts on the northern beaches as whenever they were washed up from the Pacific they were consumed before they had a chance to grow.

John and Elizabeth share some coconut milk.

No you can not take that buoy home !

Little remains of this Suzuki caught in mud and a 3 metre tide change in Orford Bay.

South of Orford bay and a group of 3 pigs and a litter of 6.
The pigs dig all along the beach and root up tubers, and roots all through the undergrowth.

A quick fish before dinner and we have a feed.

Camp 2 under the Casuarina trees

GoannaTracks...how appropriate !

The 3 quads negotiate the rocks around False Orford Ness.

We try some hand spearfishing but they are better than us.

A pacific Island hand woven fishing float stuffed with rubber from old shoes.

A large still alive Baylor Shell.
We put it back as found.

Camp 3 at the start of the long beach.
Chairs, Packing Crates, life vests, water containers all complements of the ocean
